Randstad is currently recruiting for a Qualified Social Worker to join Oldham Council's Duty and Assessment Team. This is a full-time position offering an excellent hourly rate of £35 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly to new referrals, completing timely assessments under statutory duties, including Section 17 and Section 47 of the Children Act 1989.
  • Conduct comprehensive Child & Family Assessments to determine needs, risks, and appropriate interventions.
  • Make informed threshold decisions and identify the most appropriate level of support or intervention.
  • Participate in multi-agency strategy discussions and joint visits with professionals such as police when safeguarding concerns arise.
  • Lead Section 47 enquiries to assess and manage risk to children.
  • Present cases at legal planning meetings and progress matters to PLO or court proceedings when necessary.
  • Undertake meaningful direct work with children and families, ensuring their voice is central to assessment and planning.
  • Collaborate with schools, health, early help services and other agencies to ensure effective, coordinated support.
  • Produce clear, evidence-based reports for Child Protection Conferences, LAC Reviews, and court hearings.
  • Apply the Signs of Safety model to assess and respond to risk and need.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records on the case management system.Engage actively in team meetings, supervision, and reflective sessions.
  • Manage a busy duty rota with a balance of urgent responses and planned assessments.

Requirements:

  • Registration with Social Work England
  • A recognised Social Work degree or equivalent qualification
  • Enhanced DBS check
