Oliver Valves have an exciting new opening for a passionate Purchasing Manager to join us.

Our Oliver Valve companies, based in Knutsford, are one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high pressure valves for the oil, gas, hydrogen, and carbon capture industries.

We have won many prestigious awards for Export, Manufacturing and Growth – as well as the coveted Queens Award for Industry.

As a Purchasing Manager, you will work in partnership with the Head of Global Purchasing. You will also provide support to the Purchasing and Supply Team, assisting them with lowering the cost of materials, balancing and optimising supply and demand, building relationships and ensuring the department is operating efficiently.

Key Responsibilities of the Purchasing Manager:

  • Responsibility for £40 million + spend.
  • Strong focus upon cost reduction and reducing the total cost of raw material and finished components.
  • Responsible for developing and executing effective supply chain strategies.
  • Mitigation of supply chain risks.
  • Ensuring supply base delivers on time to Oliver’s high-quality standards.
  • Deputy to Head of Purchasing.

Preferred Skills:

  • Engineering or Technical Background essential. Machine shop experience very desirable.
  • Good negotiation skills, ability to work and communicate with vendors and stakeholders.
  • Business acumen and excellent knowledge of commodity markets.
  • Knowledge of metals and their technical standards / specifications would be desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work well with peers and other functions.
  • Financial literacy – Cost of materials, acquisition cost and total cost philosophies.
