Purchasing Administrator

We are seeking a Purchasing and Transportation Administrator to join our client’s dynamic team at their head office in Tyseley, Birmingham. Day-to-day of the role:

  • Raising and amending purchase orders.
  • Progressing orders and addressing queries.
  • Ensuring acknowledgements match order values.
  • Managing direct deliveries to customers.
  • Assisting in the administration of price negotiations.
  • Providing general administrative support to the Purchase Department.
  • Liaising with other departments (sales, warehouse, finance) to assist in related processes and queries.
  • Coordinating transportation and logistics to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Overseeing the administration of logistics, including tracking shipments and managing inventory levels.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a purchasing role, with additional responsibilities in transportation, administration, and logistics.
  • Excellent communication skills, confident, driven, and a logical thinker.
  • Strong analytical, collaborative skills and calm under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple jobs simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of the timber industry and related products is a plus.
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel; certification is ideal.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well within a team and under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience with modern purchasing ERP systems.
