Purchase Ledger Clerk Permanent, Part-Time (20-25 hours per week)Retford, NottinghamshireUp to £30,000 pro rata We’re looking for a proactive and organised Purchase Ledger Clerk to support the smooth running of our finance function. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with detail and accuracy in a busy, multi-stakeholder environment. You will be responsible for processing supplier invoices, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring payments are completed on time across a range of suppliers and services.Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and code incoming supplier invoices with accuracy and efficiency
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and gain necessary approvals in line with company policy
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any mismatches or disputes promptly
  • Manage payments across multiple currencies, ensuring correct treatment of exchange rates
  • Schedule and prepare payments through various methods (BACS, CHAPS, international transfers)
  • Work closely with internal teams such as procurement and operations to resolve invoice or PO queries
  • Process staff expenses in line with internal procedures and HMRC requirements
  • Maintain accurate supplier records, including banking information and contact details
  • Support month-end processes and assist with internal and external audit requests
  • Ensure all processes comply with company policies, finance procedures, and relevant legislation

Skills & Qualifications Required: 

  • Previous experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role
  • Good knowledge of invoice processing, payment cycles, and supplier account management
  • Confident using Excel/Google Sheets and financial software (Sage or similar)
  • Experience working with overseas suppliers and handling multi-currency transactions (desirable)
  • Knowledge of VAT treatment on international purchases (desirable)
