Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have strong behaviour management skills and the resilience to work in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) or Alternative Provision setting?
We are currently seeking a confident and skilled SEMH PRU Teaching Assistant to join a specialist team supporting students who require tailored learning approaches and emotional support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
- Assist in managing challenging behaviour in a calm, consistent, and positive manner
- Work closely with teachers and senior staff to implement behaviour and support plans
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Support the development of social and emotional skills
- Create a safe and supportive environment for learning
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience working in a PRU, SEMH school, or similar alternative provision
- Excellent behaviour management strategies
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and de-escalate situations effectively
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
- A valid DBS or willingness to undergo one
