Job description - the role

AMS is the world's leading provider of Talent Acquisition and Management Services. Our contingent Workforce Solutions (CWS) service acts as an extension of our clients' recruitment team and provides professional interim and temporary resources. We partner with Arup to support contingent recruitment processes. On behalf of Arup, we are looking for a Project Manager - L&D for a 6 month contract based in London, hybrid working.

About the Opportunity:

Arup is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the discovery phase of a global initiative focused on reskilling and upskilling its workforce. This role will shape how Arup identifies and develops future-ready capabilities to meet evolving market and client needs.

Working with teams across Arup University, People, Digital Technology, and Strategy, the Project Manager will define a scalable, integrated approach to learning-establishing systems, structures, and governance to support long-term capability development.

In this role you will:

  • Lead and deliver the discovery phase of the initiative by designing a scalable delivery framework, establishing a clear governance structure, and developing a robust five-year business case that aligns with strategic objectives and supports long-term capability growth.
  • Collaborate closely with senior stakeholders across Arup University, the People Team, Digital Technology Group (DTG), Strategy Office, and executive sponsors to co-develop a unified and strategic roadmap that aligns organisational priorities, integrates cross-functional insights, and supports long-term capability development.
  • Lead the analysis and integration of external benchmarking insights and internal data collection to inform the design of a comprehensive, evidence-based reskilling and upskilling model that aligns with industry best practices and Arup's strategic workforce needs.
  • Recommend scalable, future-ready systems and processes that enable the effective identification, development, and deployment of critical skills across Arup, ensuring alignment with strategic workforce planning, evolving business needs, and digital transformation goals.
  • Coordinate and consolidate all necessary inputs-financial data, strategic insights, and operational plans-for the development and timely submission of a comprehensive business plan and ROI analysis tool to the Global Investment Executive, ensuring alignment with investment criteria and organisational priorities.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven success managing complex, cross-functional transformation programmes in global matrixed organisations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence diverse stakeholders across regions and business functions.
  • Deep experience in capability development, strategic workforce planning, and enterprise learning strategies
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to translate strategy into operational plans
  • Expertise in organisational design, resourcing models, and change management.
