An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a fully trained Production Engineer with strong electrical and mechanical hands-on experience to join a growing and highly respected organization within the food manufacturing industry.
Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, your primary responsibility will be to perform planned and unplanned maintenance and breakdown repairs across a range of high-speed production equipment. You'll play a key role in ensuring that engineering downtime is minimised and production targets are consistently met.
A strong sense of urgency and a proactive approach to maintenance are essential, as is the ability to quickly troubleshoot issues and keep production machinery running efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair faults on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
- Electronics repair experience is a strong advantage.
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on machinery such as:
- Servo-controlled Pick & Place systems
- Filling machines
- Flow wrappers
- Check weighers
- Shrink and stretch wrappers
- Ensure the efficient and safe running of all factory equipment.
- Respond swiftly and effectively to breakdowns.
- Work closely with production teams to ensure minimal downtime.
- Apply engineering expertise to maintain product quality and food safety.
- Proactively identify and implement improvements in machinery reliability and maintenance procedures.
Requirements
- Time-served engineering background, ideally within the Food, Dairy, or Beverage manufacturing sector.
- Proven hands-on experience with both mechanical and electrical systems.
- Strong communication skills, especially during breakdowns and decision-making processes.
- Flexibility and a continuous improvement mindset—always looking for better, simpler, and more effective solutions.
- High levels of commitment, energy, and a customer-focused approach to internal service.
- In-depth understanding of production processes.
