The Client

Harmonic Finance are delighted to be working on a retained basis with one of Europe's fastest growing and most exciting Fintech start-ups building technology leveraging machine learning to develop a platform which allows the buying and selling of digital assets.

As a leading market maker, our client is bridging the gap between the traditional financial world and decentralized finance (DeFi).

With an exceptionally experienced and talented leadership team they have closed a 50m Euro Series A at a valuation of over $300m. Backed by three of the world's most respected VC funds and early backers of some of Silicon Valley's household names and other global success stories.

Headcount is set to double to 70 over the next 12 months as they've now shown 5 consistent months of profitability. Located in Central London, they also have key bases in Switzerland and Singapore, and are eyeing a US expansion. This is an incredible opportunity to join a highly ambitious, bright, driven team as they push towards becoming the next unicorn in crypto.

The Role

The Product Controller will be responsible for building and leading Product Control at a fast-growing, leading crypto market maker, where you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, analysis, managing risks and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.

You will be responsible for building out P&L reconciliation, valuation control and financial risk management, while supporting with overall financial control and supporting with the wider build out of the finance function of a now profitable fintech start-up.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation and analysis of financial reports related to trading activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements
• Build out profit and loss (P&L) reporting - including working with Trading team to improve and enhance existing tools & processes across all products traded (spot, derivatives)
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies between trading systems and accounting records.
• Identify and manage financial risks associated with the business and implement / maintain controls to mitigate identified risks.
• Valuation control: validating and verifying valuation of financial instruments.
• Continuously review, improve and streamline processes, enhancing controls and reviewing trading systems.
• Supervise and mentor a Management Accountant in the team.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
• Performance analysis to understand the drivers of trading performance and evaluate trading strategies.
• Support with the month end process, including realised and unrealised P&L, revenue reporting and reconciling opening and closing inventory
• Support the wider finance team with ensuring there are robust financial controls as the business scales.
• Support with the annual audit process and the production of statutory accounts.
• Ad-hoc projects to support the business as they continue to grow.
• Work closely with senior stakeholders and be able to present financial data and analysis to senior management.

What we need to see (Essential):

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
• Excellent communication skills
• Incredibly ambitious with a desire to continue learning
• Excited by start-ups and a passion for Fintech (preferably crypto)

What we would like to see (Bonus):

• Financial Services or Fintech background
• Experience in a trading environment
• Interested in the cryptocurrency space
• Experience implementing/optimising systems

Salary: £100,000 - £120,000 + share options
