Remote

£30,000-40,000 per annum DOE

Jackson Hogg Procurement division are partnering with a leading national charity with offices in Durham on the appointment of a Procurement Specialist role to join their small procurement function on a full-time and permanent basis. This role can be remote working 5 days per week, but if local to the North East, there is the option to work hybrid if preferred.

This role would suit an individual with public sector procurement experience and who has knowledge of the end-to-end procurement process. Public sector experience is essential to be considered for this post.

As a Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for procuring goods, services, and works at a national level. In addition to this, you will be providing stakeholders with a range of options and solutions to maximise value for money and benefit the business while complying with UK legislation and internal policies.

The Role:

  • Provide technical and professional advice to stakeholders on procurement processes and procedures.
  • Gain an understanding of internal policies and procedures, to educate the wider business areas and adopt commercial best practice.
  • Manage own annual pipeline of strategic procurement projects within the agreed timescales, assess and manage the risk associated with each activity including technical process, meeting legal procurement requirements and stakeholder management.
  • Provide pragmatic and informed advice on compliance with The Public Contracts Regulations 2015.
  • Use your knowledge, expertise, and desktop research to ensure you understand the product or service you are involved with, understand the constraints, opportunities and how best to procure the requirement.
  • Enhance the reputation of the Procurement function and work collaboratively with stakeholders, legal and other subject matter experts to develop the form of contract, special terms and conditions, KPI’s and appropriate contract management and governance requirements.
  • Ensure that stakeholder requirements are understood, then transferred into specifications and outcomes are expressed in a meaningful way, that assist in delivering best value.
  • Develop evaluation models to achieve the desired outcome and best value for money.
  • Support with the mobilisation of new contracts prior to handover and attend contract review meetings as required.
  • Ensure procurement spend is strategically managed to achieve sustainable, social and community benefits and continuous improvement in service delivery.
  • Manage your projects using the e-procurement tools and internal databases as required.
  • Work flexibly to assist other members of the team in any of their day-to-day duties that will support the achievement of the team objectives.
  • Provide reports and statistical data on Procurement performance as required and utilise effective performance management techniques to ensure that targets are being met.

Person Specification:

  • Experience of tendering under the Public Contract Regulations 2015.
  • An ambitious individual who is an excellent communicator and can work on their own initiative.
  • As you will be managing your own projects you will need to have strong organisational skills and be able to manage your own workload
  • Outstanding administration skills are paramount to this role.
  • Ideally candidates who apply will have at least 1 year public sector background in procurement.
  • Candidates should hold or be working towards L4 Diploma in Procurement and supply with CIPS
