Reed is working with a growing local business to hire a strategic leader to modernise and drive its purchasing operations.

Based in Telford, the business are a well-established, down-to-earth business with a strong team culture and long-serving staff. In your role, you’ll report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Operations Manager. You’ll lead a small team, manage supplier relationships world-wide, and drive cost savings through smart, data-led decisions.

This is a hands-on leadership role where your commercial acumen, Excel expertise, and process improvement mindset will be key to success.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading and centralising the purchasing function
• Managing and developing a small team (currently 1–2 people)
• Owning supplier negotiations and contract renewals
• Driving cost reductions and smarter buying decisions
• Using advanced Excel and analytics to optimise purchasing
• Streamlining and digitalising procurement processes
• Collaborating with warehouse, sales, and finance teams
• Representing the business professionally with suppliers and partners

What we’re looking for:

• Proven experience in wholesale, retail, or e-commerce procurement
• Exposure to international supply chains
• Strong negotiation and supplier relationship skills
• Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities
• Experience with ERP systems (Bright Pearl, Inventory Planner)
• Commercial mindset and proactive problem-solving attitude
• Leadership experience (even with small teams)
