Principal Mechanical EngineerLocation: BlythType: Permanent / Full-Time / HybridSalary: £70,000 - £85,000 basicAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the technical engineering function within a growing offshore and subsea projects environment. This senior role will provide the platform to shape engineering standards, mentor a skilled team, and deliver innovative solutions for trenching assets, subsea vehicles, and vessel equipment.Key Responsibilities- Lead the conceptual and detailed design of mechanical systems and components for offshore projects.- Review, approve, and provide technical governance on engineering work from internal teams and subcontractors.- Perform calculations, simulations, and testing to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with relevant codes and standards (API, ASME, ISO, DNV).- Drive continuous improvement and innovation within mechanical engineering processes and practices.- Manage departmental resources, workloads, and engineering deliverables across live projects, tenders, and studies.- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and operational phases.About You:- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng/MEng); Chartered Engineer status desirable.-Minimum 10 years' experience in mechanical engineering, ideally within offshore or subsea environments.- Strong background in hydraulic systems and mechanical analysis (stress, fatigue, vibration, thermal).- Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks/Inventor) and 2D CAD (AutoCAD).- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage teams, third-party suppliers, and resources.- Innovative thinker with excellent problem-solving, communication, and organisational abilities.Why Apply?This is a high-impact position with the scope to influence technical strategy and deliver cutting-edge engineering solutions.
