Principal Civil / Geotechnical Design Engineer

£80,000 bonus

If you are looking to join a niche civil engineering consultancy known for delivering smart, site-sensitive solutions across the UK and internationally, this could be for you! We are looking for a capable and ambitious Civil / Geotechnical Design Engineer to join their team in the West Yorkshire area.

You’ll get hands-on with a wide range of infrastructure design challenges (think complex below-ground works, shaft design, trenchless crossings, temporary works, and ground-structure interaction). The role is technical, varied, and well-suited to someone who enjoys solving real-world problems through practical design.

This is a standout opportunity for an engineer with around five plus years' experience who’s looking to sharpen their technical edge, gain strong mentorship, and progress toward chartership with real support.

YOUR NEW ROLE

• Working on projects related to under- and above-ground structures
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians
• Manage the team's deliverables
• Working to tight deadlines
• Implement temporary works design principles
• Permanent works design standards - creating solutions in timber, steel, reinforced concrete, and proprietary structural systems
• Coordinate with external consultants and third-party checkers
• Engage with clients and project construction teams
• Generate reports and communications for clients
• Lead the design approval process and collaborate with the internal team on engineering development

ABOUT YOU

• Experience in designing underground structures and temporary works
• BEng or MEng level in Civil and/or Structural Engineering
• Design consultancy experience
• Chartership status CEng
• CDM Health and Safety knowledge
• Technical skills in structural design
• Strong understanding of geotechnical principles
• Leadership capabilities for fostering the professional growth of junior engineers

SALARY AND BENEFITS

• Basic salary up to £80,000 (depending upon experience)
