A warm and welcoming primary school in the heart of Urmston, Trafford is seeking a passionate and nurturing Early Years Class Teacher to join their dedicated team on a fixed-term basis for one year, starting in October 2025. This role is to cover a maternity leave and offers the opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking, supportive school community. You will be paid to scale for this role
The successful candidate will take full responsibility for teaching a Reception class within the school's EYFS unit. They will work closely with the parallel class teacher and support staff to plan, deliver and assess a high-quality, engaging and developmentally appropriate curriculum.
Key Responsibilities as a Reception Teacher in the role:
- Deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum with creativity, energy and understanding
- Create a safe, stimulating and nurturing classroom environment that supports learning through play and purposeful experiences
- Observe, assess and record children's progress accurately, using this information to inform next steps and planning
- Work in close partnership with teaching assistants, senior leaders, and parents/carers to support each child's holistic development
- Promote children's personal, social and emotional well-being alongside their academic progress
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including staff meetings, school events and ongoing professional development
The Ideal Candidate Will Be:
- A qualified teacher (QTS) with a strong understanding of the EYFS Framework
- Experienced in teaching in an Early Years setting (Reception experience desirable)
- Passionate about early childhood education and committed to giving children the best possible start
- Skilled in observation-led planning and assessment, including the use of formative assessment tools and learning journals
- A reflective practitioner, willing to adapt and grow within a supportive team environment
- An excellent communicator with the ability to build strong relationships with children, parents and colleagues

- Hold a relevant Teaching qualification
- Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and professional reference checks
- CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible
- Legal right to work in the UK
