A well established and highly successful business operating within the logistics industry has partnered with the team at NET Recruit to assist them on their search for a Port Operative to join their team in the Portsmouth area.PLEASE NOTE: The company is looking at temp-to-perm or permanent options for this role, depending if applicants possess all required skills, knowledge and experience or will need training.Your RoleWhile in this position your duties may include but are not limited to:
- Supporting the discharge and loading of vessels
- Taking responsibility for handling cargo within the port, in a safe and efficient manner, as per the relevant training, guidelines and rules
- Assisting in the mooring and unmooring operations
- Handling infrastructure and equipment such as Forklifts Trucks, Tug Masters and Telehandlers
- Making sure that good housekeeping processes are followed at the port, as per instructions
You MUST HavePlease apply ONLY if you meet the following criteria:
- Driving license with ideally HGV Class 1 as well
- Basic numeracy and literacy competencies are required
- Proven experience using a variety of equipment such as Forklifts Trucks, Tug Masters and Telehandlers
- Exposure to the maritime sector
- Good communication skills
- Able to work flexibly and under pressure
Your OpportunityOver the last decade this business has grown and developed, becoming a leader within its market, successfully providing services for cargo handling and freight forwarding to its clientele. This role will support the hands-on day to day operations at the port location, operating plant equipment safely, mooring and unmooring vessels and supporting on a range of other port duties.The business is offering a good starting salary of up to £31,000 (or just over £15 per/hour for temp options) dependent on previous experience.
