Location: Hutton HQ, Lancashire 

Department: Professional Standards Department (PSD) 

Contract: Temporary until April 2026 (subject to extension) 

Working Hours: Full-time (or as a job share) 

Pay Rate: £18.41 per hour (PAYE) 

A unique opportunity has arisen for a fully accredited Police Investigation Officer (PIP2) to join the Professional Standards Department based at Hutton HQ.

This role is ideal for an experienced investigator who is passionate about maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism within policing. You will be responsible for managing and conducting serious and complex investigations involving allegations of misconduct or criminal activity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage serious and complex criminal investigations.
  • Interview victims, witnesses, and suspects in accordance with PACE.
  • Compile and present comprehensive case files and reports.
  • Provide expert advice and support to divisional staff.
  • Engage with members of the public and manage complaints.
  • Present evidence in criminal courts and misconduct hearings.

Essential Requirements:

  • Fully accredited to PIP Level 2.
  • Proven experience in conducting serious and complex investigations.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Criminal Justice System, including CPIA 1996 and PACE.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and IT skills.
  • Full UK manual driving licence and ability to travel for work.
  • Willingness to undergo appropriate vetting.
