We're hiring a Platform Engineer to help drive the infrastructure behind a globally distributed, real-time data platform.
You'll work at the core of a high-frequency, multi-region environment where uptime, performance, and reliability are critical.
This is a highly autonomous role with significant scope to shape systems, processes, and architecture.
Why This Role Might Be Right for You
- You enjoy being hands-on and close to the tech, whether it's tuning the network stack or refining observability pipelines.
- You thrive in high-performance environments where engineering quality truly matters.
- You're excited by the challenge of supporting systems that operate around the clock, across regions, and at scale.
- You like working across teams, influencing technical direction, and driving improvements that have immediate impact.
What You'll Be Doing
- Take ownership of platform infrastructure supporting a 24/7 ethical web scraping operation across multiple cloud providers.
- Partner with engineers and architects to build scalable systems that balance performance, fault-tolerance, and maintainability.
- Analyse platform bottlenecks and lead initiatives to improve speed, reliability, and observability.
- Interface with the central infrastructure team to align tooling, reduce duplication, and raise standards across environments.
- Optimize Linux and network performance for real-time data handling, especially in low-latency contexts.
- Participate in a support rota (business hours and on-call) while constantly reducing manual ops via automation and smart design.
- Manage technical relationships with infrastructure vendors and cloud partners, ensuring service quality and performance.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a platform, SRE, DevOps or infrastructure engineering role.
- Strong command of Linux systems and networking fundamentals, with experience tuning for high performance.
- Proficiency in scripting (Python and Bash preferred).
- Real-world experience running infrastructure in a multi-cloud or hybrid cloud setup (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production.
- Familiarity with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar).
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc).
- Strong communicator, with a collaborative mindset and ability to work across distributed teams.
Bonus Experience
- Proxy tooling (e.g. Squid) or experience working on web scraping platforms.
- Previous roles in high-frequency trading, large-scale data platforms, or latency-sensitive environments.
You’ll be joining a team that values curiosity, performance, and autonomy. If you’re someone who enjoys solving hard problems at scale and doing it alongside sharp, low-ego teammates, we’d love to hear from you.
