Pest Control Operatives

• Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (6 months)
• Location: Bolton Council
• Pay Rate: £14.13 per hour PAYE
• Working Hours: 8:00 am - 16:00 pm

Bolton Council are looking for two Pest Control Operatives to join their team for a six-month period. This role involves responding to service requests across the borough, assessing risks, and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards. The successful candidates will handle everything from determining the nature of infestations to the safe disposal of pests.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Respond to complaints and service requests across the borough, or within a specific geographical area.
• Conduct risk assessments of service requests to determine the appropriate response.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements as per the Pest Control Service and Council policies.
• Identify the nature of the infestation and the pests involved.
• Select and apply appropriate pesticides, seeking specialist guidance when necessary.
• Prepare and lay baits, poisons, and traps for effective pest control.
• Conduct follow-up treatments or visits as required, including the collection and proper disposal of rodents and other pest species.
• Collect and submit all monies related to Council charges.
• Secure additional contract work from the commercial sector and assist in pricing according to current service policies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in pest control or a similar field is preferred.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations.
• Ability to identify different pests and knowledge of appropriate control measures.
• Competence in handling and applying pesticides safely.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• You must be physically fit and healthy, as you will be working outside and on your feel all day
• You must have a Valid Full UK Driving Licence
