  • Pay: £18 - £19.52 per hour

Salford Council are seeking a high-level Personal Assistant to provide comprehensive and proactive support to a director. This role is crucial in facilitating the smooth operation of the Director's office and ensuring effective management support within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage and organise the Director's diary, email, and travel arrangements, ensuring efficient scheduling and coordination.
  • Prepare meeting papers, obtain background documents, briefing notes, and speeches as directed.
  • Filter and direct incoming correspondence and queries, identifying urgent and sensitive matters, ensuring confidentiality and sensitivity.
  • Review agenda items for meetings attended by the Director to ensure effective briefing papers are prepared and filed electronically.
  • Produce accurate word-processed documents, maintain spreadsheets, and create presentations.
  • Undertake research, analyse data, and produce presentational material, following up on identified actions.
  • Establish and maintain a network of contacts relevant to the role, including other local authorities and partners.
  • Organise conferences, meetings, and briefings, including venue booking, travel arrangements, and catering.
  • Take minutes and action points during meetings, ensuring follow-up actions are recorded and progressed.
  • Set up, manage, evaluate, and maintain systems and procedures to ensure efficient operation under the Director's oversight.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience providing management support to senior management in a similarly complex organisation.
  • High-level word-processing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent advisory, guiding, persuasive, negotiating, analytical, problem-solving, and judgment skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a reactive office environment, managing competing deadlines and demands.
  • Professional curiosity and openness to utilizing emerging technologies to support the role.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and respond appropriately in the absence of the Director.
  • Graduate/Management qualification or equivalent is advantageous.
