This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and flexible HR professional to deliver generalist People support that drives improved business performance, while ensuring a great colleague experience.As a People Advisor, you will act as a trusted partner to line managers, providing expert guidance across a range of People topics from employee relations to talent management, engagement, performance, recruitment and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for People matters, coaching line managers and supporting them in managing their teams effectively.
- Support the business with employee relations, performance management, absence management, recognition, recruitment, onboarding, and reward and benefits.
- Provide insights by interpreting People metrics and data, linking them to business performance and identifying areas for improvement.
- Coach and advise on People policies, procedures and best practice, ensuring a consistent and values-led approach.
- Champion a positive colleague experience by embedding values and delivering initiatives that drive engagement and development.
- Support and influence the delivery of the People strategy across the employment lifecycle.
- Promote wellbeing, diversity, inclusion and respectful behaviour across all levels of the business.
- Facilitate change management, including communication, consultation and implementation of changes aligned with legal requirements and business needs.
- Support recruitment for both Monthly and Weekly paid roles, including liaising with agencies and participating in interviews and onboarding.
- Lead on the management of People systems, data accuracy and compliance (e.g., GDPR, ethical audits, and internal audits).
- Collaborate with Learning & Development to support managers in building high-performing teams.
- Support and coach on underperformance cases and employee development using established frameworks.
- Assist in internal communications and consultative committee activities to foster trust and a sense of belonging.
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of values-based leadership and its link to business performance.
- Ability to coach, advise and support line managers across a variety of People topics.
- Good working knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practices.
- Skilled in interpreting and analysing HR data to support business decision-making.
- Confident communicator with strong influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- Able to take a coaching approach and support learning and development initiatives.
- Familiar with HR systems (e.g., People Portal, clocking systems, SharePoint).
- Experience in managing change initiatives and consultations in line with legal and company procedures.
- Demonstrates high standards of discretion, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
- Understanding of colleague wellbeing strategies, internal communication, and diversity & inclusion principles.
Qualifications & Experience
- CIPD Level 3 (minimum) in People Management or equivalent.
- Proven experience in an HR generalist or People Advisor role.
- Experience in advising and coaching managers on employee relations issues.
- Comfortable managing and resolving ER cases, including disciplinary, grievance, and absence management.
- Knowledge of mediation practices and coaching techniques.
- Experience delivering training or facilitating group learning is a plus.
