Role: Senior Pensions Paraplanner

Package: Basic Salary up to £80,000 + Benefits

Location: London

Our client, a successful and well-respected financial planning firm, are looking for a highly skilled and technical paraplanner to join their pensions team; The firm are looking for an individual to work closely with several senior members of staff on all forms of pension work including pension assets on divorce. As a result, it is crucial that the successful individual will be a respectful, detailed, and hard-working individual who can provide and explain complex information in both written and verbal forms.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will prepare, complete, and deliver reports and annual reviews to a high professional standard; This will include collating and providing the relevant information to all key individuals.
  • You will receive and implement requests from the financial planners; You will work closely with the advisers to communicate clearly with the administration team.
  • You must gather and record client data as well as develop and maintain all processes relevant to technical support while undertaking product-based research.
  • Where appropriate, you will attend client meetings and communicate with clients (both face to face and remote) as-well as with third parties / key stakeholders.
  • You must provide reports on important measures on a regular basis.
  • You will undertake professional development and training where relevant.
  • You will operate within the compliance and corporate standards of the business, including compliance with the rules of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), anti-money laundering (AML) laws and regulations, company compliance policies and staff handbook.
  • To the best of your ability, you will ensure that all compliance standards are met and that all paraplanning report templates are regularly updated in line with legislative and/or product changes.
  • You will also support any other duties that would be reasonably expected while supporting a wealth management firm.
  • You will review and analyse the letter of instruction to establish the work to be undertaken, information required, timeframe, and cost; It is crucial that you gather and analyse the pension details for all parties.
  • You will prepare spreadsheets required to undertake the calculations requested in the letter of instruction.
  • You will prepare reports to answer questions requested in the letter of instruction and strictly comply with the Court timetable.
  • You must reply to additional queries within the required timeframes.
  • You will develop and maintain your knowledge of Pensions Legislation, Family Law, Family Procedure Rules, Case Law, and Pension Ombudsman Determinations; You will also develop and maintain your knowledge of all public sector schemes as-well as relevant factors from the Government Actuaries Department.
  • You will attend meetings with professional introducers and clients while being accompanied by an advisory member of the team; As part of this, you will assist with the presentation of webinars and seminars.
  • You will assist with presenting and issuing technical updates to solicitors via email.
  • You will aid with project work as required by the Head of Financial Planning on Divorce.
  • You will assist in the development of less experienced members of staff.
  • You will review and assist the development of computer hardware and software.
  • You will assist with publishing articles onto LinkedIn as-well as assist with developing a presence on other social media platforms.

About You

  • You will have a minimum of five year’s paraplanning experience.
  • You will hold the level 4 diploma in financial services (CII, LIBF, or CISI); Level 6 / Chartered Status is preferred but not essential.
  • You will have a detailed knowledge of the calculation of all benefits within a defined benefit scheme including the relevant revaluation legislation; It is paramount that you have a detailed knowledge of all types of pension arrangements such as, Defined Benefit, SSAS/SIPP, Section 32 Buyouts, Annuities/Income Drawdown, and State Pensions.
  • You will have strong literacy, numeracy, and IT skills; Required IT office skills include Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, and industry specific back-office systems.
  • You will possess excellent communication skills as-well as a strong ability to deal with individuals at all levels within and outside the organisation; Strong empathy and sympathy skills will be paramount as you must be able to build and maintain client relationships.
  • You must have excellent personal time management skills and be able to always adhere to strict deadlines.
  • You will be a confident, authentic, genuine, and charismatic individual with excellent presentation skills; You must be able to convey complex information, to a wide variety of people with various levels of understanding, both written and verbally.
  • You must be hard working, enthusiastic, passionate, focused, and articulate with a strong commitment to delivering an excellent client experience and service; It is imperative that you always adopt highly moral, ethical, and professional approaches to your work.
  • You will be eager to develop your industry knowledge as-well as be prepared to undergo further study and training where appropriate.
  • You must be able to research, analyse, and interpret a diverse range of information.
  • You will have the ability to work individually as well as part of a team.

Salary : 70000 - 80000
