THE POST - AI Optimisation for Salt and Moisture Prediction in Dairy Production
The University of the West of Scotland (UWS) seeks a PDRA to lead and deliver all aspects of an applied AI development project in partnership with leading diary producers. The role focuses on advancing an existing prototype into a production-ready predictive system for real-time monitoring of salt and moisture content in cheese production. The postholder will be responsible for the full AI system lifecycle from data ingestion and model optimisation to system integration, deployment, performance evaluation, and reporting. The position requires both technical depth and practical autonomy, ensuring the final system delivers tangible operational improvements in an industrial setting.
The successful candidate should have the following:
PhD (awarded or submitted) in AI, data science, or a related field
Experience with dairy SCADA systems and industrial cheese production
Proven ability to lead technical work and engage directly with external stakeholders Relevant training in AI deployment and industrial digitalisation relevant to dairy production.
