Our client, a leading UK charity, is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Systems Implementation Manager to support the final stages of an iTrent payroll system implementation. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause while playing a key role in modernising their payroll processes across a national organisation.
The Finance department supports over 160 services across England and provides a full finance function — including payroll — to all staff and external stakeholders. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the successful candidate will lead on iTrent configuration, system readiness, testing and go-live, ensuring all payroll functionality is aligned to organisational requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with external providers (MHR), HR, Payroll teams and consultants to ensure the project remains on track and meets deadlines.
- Coordinate and document configuration of iTrent payroll modules in line with the charity’s specific requirements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure all payroll processes are reviewed, captured, and optimised for system fit.
- Lead on user testing and parallel runs ahead of the system launch.
- Provide training and support to HR and Payroll teams to ensure smooth adoption of the system.
- Serve as the iTrent system administrator, liaising with MHR on any technical requirements.
- Support the wider Payroll team with ad hoc tasks to ensure effective ongoing service delivery.
Essential Requirements:
- CIPP qualification or substantial experience in a Payroll Manager or Payroll Systems role.
- Proven experience using and configuring iTrent systems.
- Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation including pensions, absence, and other statutory regulations.
- Demonstrated success in leading payroll system implementations and project delivery.
- High-level Excel proficiency and data management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable:
- Experience supporting change management and training teams during system transitions.
Please note: A enhanced DBS may be required due to the nature of the organisation.
