Job Description :

Our client, a leading UK charity, is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Systems Implementation Manager to support the final stages of an iTrent payroll system implementation. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause while playing a key role in modernising their payroll processes across a national organisation.

The Finance department supports over 160 services across England and provides a full finance function — including payroll — to all staff and external stakeholders. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the successful candidate will lead on iTrent configuration, system readiness, testing and go-live, ensuring all payroll functionality is aligned to organisational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with external providers (MHR), HR, Payroll teams and consultants to ensure the project remains on track and meets deadlines.
  • Coordinate and document configuration of iTrent payroll modules in line with the charity’s specific requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure all payroll processes are reviewed, captured, and optimised for system fit.
  • Lead on user testing and parallel runs ahead of the system launch.
  • Provide training and support to HR and Payroll teams to ensure smooth adoption of the system.
  • Serve as the iTrent system administrator, liaising with MHR on any technical requirements.
  • Support the wider Payroll team with ad hoc tasks to ensure effective ongoing service delivery.

Essential Requirements:

  • CIPP qualification or substantial experience in a Payroll Manager or Payroll Systems role.
  • Proven experience using and configuring iTrent systems.
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation including pensions, absence, and other statutory regulations.
  • Demonstrated success in leading payroll system implementations and project delivery.
  • High-level Excel proficiency and data management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting change management and training teams during system transitions.

Please note: A enhanced DBS may be required due to the nature of the organisation.

Salary : 44000 - 51000
