Payroll Specialist - Robert Walters : Job Details

A market leading Legal firm that I'm delighted to be partnered with in the city of Manchester are looking to add a Payroll Specialist to their growing team.

The role will be an initial 6 month contract with the view to this turning permanent upon successful completion of the assignment.

As the Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for...

• Checking Work Hours: Verify the number of hours employees have worked.
• Calculating Wages and Salaries: Compute wages, salaries, and any additional payments (such as bonuses or commissions).
• Payment Distribution: Issue employee wages through cash, checks, or electronic transfers.
• Employee Data Management: Collaborate with the human resources department to maintain accurate employee records.
• Pay Adjustments: Calculate pay raises, shift payments, and overtime compensation.
• Tax Forms and Documentation: Issue tax forms (such as W-2s) and assist employees in completing them.
• Deductions: Deduct tax and insurance payments from employee wages.
• Resolving Payroll Issues: Address employee concerns related to timesheets, payslips, and other payroll matters.
• Bank Record Updates: Update employee bank records as needed for accurate payment processing.
• Direct Deposits: Initiate direct deposits for employees.

Skills required...

• Previous experience as a Payroll Assistant is ideal, but similar roles will also be considered.
• Proficiency in Excel.
• Ability to prioritise workload and work well under pressure.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Respect for confidential information.
• Excellent communication skills.
