Payroll Manager / Payroll Advisor

Portslade | Full-Time | Hybrid Working

We’re looking for an experienced Payroll professional to take ownership of a busy and varied payroll function across two offices. With around 350 payrolls processed across both offices (Portslade and Eastbourne), you’ll play a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day delivery while also helping to streamline systems and processes for the future.

This role is open to both experienced Payroll Advisors and those ready to step into a Payroll Manager position.

What You’ll Do

• Manage a portfolio of client payrolls, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC requirements
• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing across multiple software systems (Sage Payroll, MoneySoft, Xero, IRIS)
• Work closely with the team to assess current systems and advise on alignment or improvements
• Handle payroll queries from clients and HMRC
• Support and mentor existing payroll staff, helping to maintain high service standards
• Ensure deadlines are met and processes run efficiently across both Eastbourne and Portslade offices

What We’re Looking For

• Proven payroll experience, ideally in an accountancy practice environment
• Strong technical knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance
• Confident with multiple payroll systems (Sage, MoneySoft, Xero, IRIS)
• Organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage high volumes of payrolls
• Strong communicator, able to support clients and colleagues effectively
• Leadership or supervisory experience (essential for Payroll Manager level)
