Within this established 6 partner firm of chartered accountants based opposite London Waterloo this "Hands on"Payroll Manager role will be responsible for a varied client portfolio of 80 clients, running calculations for weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls and preparing P11Ds for 1,000 individual payroll runs,with the help of a Payroll Assistant. The role would suit someone from a practice background or a Payroll Bureau used to multiple payroll clients About the Role • Carry out appraisals for Payroll Assistant. • Set month tasks for Payroll Assistant. • Calculate payroll for a number of clients which includes requesting changes each month, running the calculations and advising of the net payments and PAYE due. Will include FPS and EPS submissions to HMRC via Real Time Information (RTI). • Where necessary, requesting funds from the client and sending Partners client account payment requests and accompanying reports to authorise to make onward payments from the Firm’s client account to individuals and HMRC. • Be able to manually calculate statutory payments including SMP, SPP, and SSP. • Be able to manually make calculations for the salaries with an understanding of tax codes including how K Codes work. • Knowledge of Directors NIC calculations and how to do a manual calculation of these. • Be conversant in the basis of Joiners and how NIC is due • Have a good understanding of each step of the payroll process and its calculations including tax and National Insurance bands. Be able to converse fluently with clients to answer any queries on tax code changes/National Insurance letter changes and their implications. • Knowledgeable on overseas workers and the implications on PAYE, working closely with our Personal Tax Team • Be able to set up a payroll from the outset, which includes setting up a PAYE and Auto enrolment scheme. • Making pension submissions to a wide range of providers About You You are currently a payroll Manager with multiple payroll clients with a knowledge of Iris Professional together with Sage, Xero, CCH Central, Payroll Professional and any similar software a client may use to maintain their accounting records.
