We are seeking a Payroll Manager to oversee one member of our Payroll team and provide payroll bureau services to various businesses within our group. This role involves leading a team responsible for processing payments on a four-weekly and monthly basis, working closely with HR, Finance, IT, and Operations to ensure timely and accurate payroll delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Lead the team to ensure all four-weekly and monthly payrolls are completed efficiently and accurately.
  • Handle queries and escalations, ensuring responses are within SLA agreements.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders in Finance, HR, IT, and Operations to streamline payroll processes.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC and ROS reporting requirements.
  • Address reconciliation issues and manage submissions and payments to external providers.
  • Oversee banking transactions and approvals.
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance management to team members.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and keep the team updated on legislative changes.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • GCSE Maths and English qualifications (or equivalent) at grade C or above.
  • Proven experience in a payroll position.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, and database management.
  • Strong administrative skills in a process-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication, numeracy, and detail-oriented skills.
  • Goal-focused with effective planning, organisation, and prioritisation skills.
  • Problem-solving ability and resilience in handling difficult queries.
  • A commitment to personal learning and development, with a willingness to take on new challenges.
