Payroll - it's like Marmite, you love it or you hate it.

This role isn't for someone who gets bored after running a couple of starter/leaver calculations. It's for someone who can take ownership of payroll for nearly 1,800 people spread across the UK.

You'll be working alongside the Finance Director, so you'll have a say in how things are run, and in an expanding business, there are plenty of things that need running better.

What you'll be doing:

  • Running payroll end-to-end (fortnightly and monthly).
  • Making sure HMRC don't come knocking (RTI, EPS, P11D, year-end… all the acronyms).
  • Keeping on top of pensions (auto enrolment, re-declarations, NEST submissions).
  • Keeping the time & attendance system honest.
  • Fielding queries from the payroll inbox and actually solving them.
  • Making sure NMW compliance isn't something we only pretend to care about.
  • Gender Pay reporting once a year.

What we need from you:

  • Minimum of 2 years' payroll experience.
  • CIPP Level 3 (an "nice to have" but not an essential).
  • If you know your way around Sage 50, that's a bonus.
  • If Excel makes you sweat, this isn't going to end well (think pivots and VLOOKUPs, not SUM).
  • A forensic eye for detail.
