Job Description :

Reed Accountancy are currently partnered with a growing organisation in the Crawley area who are seeking a Commercial Accountant to join Their Finance team.  Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, as Commerical Accountant you will assist in providing crucial support across all companies within the group. This role is integral to their operations, acting as the key link between business unit leads and finance, with a focus on monthly revenue and margin reporting, trading reports, variance analysis, and the monthly forecasting process. The Commercial Accountant will also manage credit control, ensuring efficient debtor collection and maintaining strong customer relationships.

Day to Day of the Commercial Accountant will include:

  • Prepare and review trading sheets for monthly commercial reviews.
  • Post trading and month-end journals as required.
  • Produce financial reports and margin variance analysis for the UK business.
  • Prepare monthly commercial forecast sheets and lead reforecast meetings with business unit heads.
  • Ensure timesheet reporting is up to date, including cost rate reviews and updates.
  • Raise sales invoices and manage customer payments, maintaining terms and relationships.
  • Produce weekly debtor reports for senior management team review.
  • Post cash receipts and payments daily, and generate daily cash reports.
  • Authorise new customers and transactions as appropriate.
  • Calculate accruals and prepayments, and assist with stock reconciliations.
  • Provide support to the Financial Controller, Finance Director, and wider business.
  • Cover for other Finance positions as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong system skills, including strong Excel knowledge and experience with recognised Finance software.
  • Strong financial accounting skills and up-to-date knowledge of accounting developments, particularly in revenue recognition.
  • Organised with the ability to effectively prioritise tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Desirable: Financial qualification (e.g., AAT) and/or progress towards a chartered financial qualification (ACCA, CIMA).
