Painters are responsible for site preparation, colour matching, surface preparation and applying paint and other finishes to walls, ceilings, furniture and other surfaces. A painter and decorator uses various tools and materials to improve the texture and appearance of surfaces. You will need to paint interior and exterior surfaces using varnishes, paint, wall fabrics, stains or sealers. It can also require the preparation of walls and surfaces by plastering, removing old paint, sandpapering or adding filler.

Typical Working Week
For this Painting and Decorating apprenticeship, the working hours will be 40 hours p/w with start time between 07:00 & 08:00 inclusive of 8 hours at college.

Qualifications required/desirable
Minimum Requirements
English and Maths at GCSE Grade 3 or above, or Functional Skills at Entry Level 3 or above.
Desired Requirements
For this Painting and Decorating apprenticeship, we want a candiate who has the passion and commitment to become a fully qualified painter & decorator. It would be advantageous if you have already completed technical certificates in painting & decorating or multi-skills, have previous related work experience, CSCS and/or PASMA, but this is certainly not essential.
Key Training/College Information
For this Painting and Decorating apprenticeship, K10 will enrol you to the Level 2 Painting & Decorating course and fund your qualifications through a SFA funded training provider.
This apprenticeship duration is 24 months.
