1:1 Tutor - Functional Skills (Maths & English)

We are seeking an experienced and engaging 1:1 Functional Skills Tutor to support learners working towards Functional Skills qualifications in Maths and/or English (Entry Level to Level 2). Many of our learners have experienced barriers to traditional education, and your role will be vital in helping them build confidence, gain qualifications, and prepare for further education, training, or employment.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver tailored sessions based on learners' individual goals and assessment levels

Teach Functional Skills Maths and/or English in a practical, real-world context

Support learners to work towards accredited qualifications (Entry Level 1-3, Level 1 & 2)

Adapt teaching to meet the needs of learners with SEND, SEMH, or disrupted education histories

Track progress, provide regular feedback, and complete assessment documentation as required

What We're Looking For:

Experience teaching Functional Skills or equivalent literacy/numeracy qualifications

Strong understanding of the Functional Skills curriculum and assessment criteria

Ability to differentiate learning and make content accessible and engaging

Empathetic, patient, and committed to inclusive education

Teaching or assessing qualification (e.g. QTS, PGCE, Level 5 DET, AET/TAQA) desirable
