An overseas banking institution is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Risk and Controls Analyst to join the Risk & Compliance team, this is a critical role focused on enhancing and embedding the Operational Risk and Control Framework across the bank’s front and back-office functions, with a particular emphasis on trade finance operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of operational risk practices, control frameworks, and regulatory expectations within the banking sector
Key Responsibilities
- Support the maintenance and ongoing enhancement of the Operational Risk & Control Framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and internal policies.
- Work closely with first-line business units to identify, assess, and document key risks and controls across business processes, particularly within trade finance.
- Conduct control testing, thematic reviews, and risk assessments to monitor effectiveness and ensure controls are fit for purpose.
- Assist in the development of Risk Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) and support the delivery of risk workshops across departments.
- Monitor, investigate, and report on operational incidents, near misses, and control failures, ensuring appropriate root cause analysis and corrective actions are tracked.
- Support audit and regulatory interactions related to operational risk and controls.
- Contribute to the bank’s risk culture, helping to embed risk awareness and control ownership at all levels.
Requirements
- Proven experience in an operational risk, internal controls, or audit role within banking
- Strong understanding of risk frameworks, RCSAs, control testing, and incident management.
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across the business, including front office, operations, compliance, and audit.
- Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools; experience with GRC or risk management systems is a plus.
