The role of the Network Maintenance Site Manager is to manage a team of electrical, instrument & gas quality technicians, to successfully deliver business targets. In this role, you will oversee mechanical maintenance on all Northern Gas Networks (NGN) assets across the network footprint. This role is a critical line manager position within NGN, reporting directly to the Mechanical Operations Manager for the network.
You will be responsible for team development and should strive to maintain a healthy and safe workplace environment, excellent stakeholder experience and efficient workload delivery. The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the tactical direction of the NGN business generally and site operations specifically.
You will bring a passion for developing a team spirit with a mixed team of newly qualified engineers and highly experienced colleagues. This is your chance to develop a maintenance team, fit for future challenges.
A full UK driving licence is a requirement for this role.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Ensure maintenance workloads are delivered on time and within budget, while meeting safety, customer service, and regulatory standards (NGN & OFGEM). Review technical test results and resolve faults promptly.
Oversee a large, geographically dispersed engineering team. Drive competency development, mentor apprentices, and lead monthly performance and safety meetings. Provide managerial support and resolve technical queries.
Support monthly workload planning, own delivery outcomes, and report on KPIs. Proactively manage team performance, including absence, productivity, and interpersonal dynamics.
Respond to enquiries and complaints in line with NGN standards, ensuring issues are resolved effectively and customer satisfaction is maintained.
Support the implementation of new processes, conduct safety audits, and pursue personal development to achieve SAP/AE status under EL6 & SCO.
