Are you a qualified Engineer with experience of manufacturing machinery working in a manufacturing plant?
Northwood Consuma Tissue are established in their field for more than 40 years, making retailers household products and away from home products. NCT are looking for a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer to join the team at the Ellesmere Port site.
Shifts are: Usual working hours would be Monday to Friday with a requirement to cover 4 on 4 off shifts days/nights when required. We operate 24/7, 365 days a year.
About the Role
The main duties include
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice maintenance strategy, systems, processes and procedures to improve equipment reliability
- Assist in the development, application and reporting on appropriate maintenance performance measures.
- Assist in the development of maintenance plans as part of the yearly planning process.
- Assist in the development of maintenance and operations skill levels to promote cross-skilling and improved equipment utilisation effectiveness.
- Participates in the development and implementation of preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
- Minimisation of unscheduled equipment downtime and time to repair. (Reactive – unplanned and urgent).
- Involved in the engineering, installation, commissioning and handover of new projects.
- Assist with Plan and organise work on allocated improvement projects and for the week ahead.
- Assist with Plan and organise routine maintenance tasks using the CMMS system. Complete reports of performed work.
- Provide good communications at shift hand-over to ensure continuity of work and the integrity of safe working systems.
- Identify equipment issues and advise on work needed and opportunities for improvement.
- Trouble shoots equipment/process problems to root cause in conjunction with team members to ensure rapid resolution of problems and ensure team members learn from the experience.
- Responsible for preventing reoccurrence of equipment failures by root cause analysis and initiating solutions ensuring OEE improvements.
- Identification and implementation of recovery plans when work is behind schedule.
- Personal operation of plant, process or equipment systems as necessary to maintain and optimise work quality, safety and throughput of the team.
- Work in conjunction with Production in efficiently completing all necessary maintenance and changeover activities within agreed timeframes.
- Assists in a process of operator upskilling to take on tasks of lubrication, changeovers, audits, inspections and repairs
- Implementation and monitoring of equipment pre-start check systems.
- Ensures that the Spare Parts stores is controlled and supports maintenance efficiency.

Requirements
Skills and qualifications
- Formal engineering qualifications.
- Highly developed fault finding and problem-solving skills.
- Good IT skills – MS Office.
- Experience in PLC fault finding and diagnostics.
- Ability to understand and change ladder logic.
- Ability to read complex electrical and engineering drawings.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement equipment improvements.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skill.
