MOT Tester - Reed : Job Details

Join our client's team as an MOT tester. This role is crucial for ensuring that taxis and other vehicles meet Leicester City Council and DVSA standards and are roadworthy. This position offers a dynamic work environment where you can apply your skills in vehicle testing and customer service.

• Conduct mechanical examinations of taxis to ensure compliance with council standards.
• Perform MOT examinations of public vehicles to DVSA standards.
• Participate in enforcement operations both on and off-site to ensure ongoing taxi maintenance.
• Provide detailed advice to vehicle owners regarding vehicle condition, failures, and necessary repairs.
• Maintain accurate records for appeals and prosecutions using IT systems.
• Operate the testing centre in the absence of the manager and supervise the team assistant.
• Attend court to give evidence as required.
• Handle payments for services and perform miscellaneous duties related to the role.

• Qualified Level 2 MOT Tester (Class 4) – Essential.
• Proven experience in vehicle examinations for MOT/compliance.
• Experience in a public-facing service role.
• Knowledge of vehicle construction and maintenance.
• Ability to prioritise workload and work unsupervised.
• Strong communication, report writing, investigative, and legislative interpretation skills.
• Experience in regulatory enforcement activities and conflict resolution.
• Ability to interact professionally with diverse individuals and present evidence convincingly in court (desirable).
• Must hold a current full UK driving licence and be willing to work outside normal hours (e.g., late nights/weekends).
