Professional Membership Organisation

Hybrid – Central London office & Home Working, with UK Travel/Weekend events

Basic Salary: £32,000 dependant on experience, Annual Leave - 33 Days, Life Insurance, 8% Pension, Healthcare Scheme, Training & Development & Staff Socials

Permanent, Full Time 9am – 5pm

Our client, a leading professional membership organisation, is seeking a proactive and dynamic Membership Development Executive to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in growing, engaging, and retaining members across the UK, while representing a highly respected professional body at industry events and exhibitions.

The Role

The Membership Development Executive will be instrumental in driving membership growth, engagement, and retention. This involves identifying and engaging potential members, delivering high-quality communications and campaigns, and ensuring members and registrants receive maximum value from their affiliation.

The position requires frequent collaboration with the Membership Development Manager and wider teams, alongside representing the organisation externally. You’ll take ownership of recruitment campaigns, coordinate onboarding activities, and provide outstanding service to both new and existing members.

Key Responsibilities

Membership Recruitment & Retention

  • Act as first point of contact for membership enquiries across email, phone, video calls, and social media.
  • Lead and coordinate recruitment and retention campaigns, including CRM and data management.
  • Support subscription renewals and onboarding communications for new and upgrading members.
  • Engage with corporate partners, government, higher education institutions, and industry bodies to grow membership.
  • Represent the organisation at industry shows, exhibitions, briefings, webinars, and events.
  • Track and report on membership recruitment, retention, and conversion activity.

Marketing & Communications

  • Design and deliver membership marketing campaigns (digital, print, and events).
  • Produce engaging content for newsletters, social media, blogs, and the Society’s magazine.
  • Maintain website membership pages, ensuring content is clear, up to date, and engaging.

Administration & Support

  • Assist with membership applications, subscriptions, and reinstatements.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records (Microsoft Dynamics), ensuring high standards of data integrity.
  • Support the Membership Committee and relevant subgroups with administration and follow-up.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Experience in a membership, professional body, or customer-focused environment.
  • Proven ability to deliver excellent service, advice, and guidance via phone, email, and in person.
  • Strong written communication skills, with experience creating content for different platforms.
  • Excellent IT skills, with confidence in Microsoft products and CRM systems (Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise, and deliver.
  • Ability to build rapport and work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and attend evening/weekend events.

Desirable:

  • Educated to degree level and/or completed higher education/apprenticeship.
  • Experience with membership recruitment and retention campaigns.
  • Familiarity with Content Management Systems, DotDigital, or design tools (InDesign, Canva, Photoshop).
  • Understanding of professional registrations
