As a Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for Hard Services planned preventative and reactive maintenance across all buildings, ensuring operational, regulatory, and compliance requirements are met. This role is vital in maintaining the functions of the College and offers a chance to be part of a dedicated team focusing on critical, essential, statutory, and non-essential system maintenance.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the operation and recovery of all business-critical systems.
  • Execute the planned preventative maintenance programme, adhering to all relevant guidelines, statutory acts, and regulations.
  • Take responsibility for the maintenance and operation of critical, electrical, and HVAC services.
  • Maintain and periodically update a Safe Systems of Work process.
  • Conduct fault finding across engineering infrastructures and statutory system & asset testing.
  • Respond to emergencies and breakdowns with responsibility.
  • Uphold all Statutory, Company, and Client-specific environmental, health, safety, and quality standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Level 3 award/certificate in a mechanical field or equivalent, or time-served apprenticeship (Mechanical) with strong competencies in mechanical trades.
  • Proficient knowledge of engineering designs, installations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Experience in meeting health and safety obligations for maintenance activities.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with using an iPad to manage work through a CAFM system.
  • IT literate, including Excel, Teams, and other Microsoft packages.
  • Team player with a flexible attitude.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to guide on requests.
  • Skilled in the use, repair, and maintenance of tools.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
Desirable Criteria:
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Experience with Building Management Systems.
