About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our maintenance and engineering team. This hands-on role involves building, servicing, and maintaining a wide range of industrial equipment in both workshop and field environments.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop & Field Maintenance
- Build, strip down, inspect, and service mechanical/hydraulic equipment (e.g. paint pumps, blast pots, ventilation systems, high-pressure washers)
- Perform routine maintenance and reactive repairs to rental fleet equipment
- Complete pre-delivery inspections (PDIs) and post-hire assessments
Site Services Support
- Support installation, mobilisation, and demobilisation of equipment on client sites
- Attend breakdowns and perform minor on-site repairs
- Comply with all client site-specific safety protocols
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate service records and inspection logs
- Ensure compliance with PUWER, LOLER, ATEX, and internal quality procedures
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with Rental, Stores, and Engineering teams to coordinate equipment availability
- Report recurring faults or opportunities for equipment/process improvement
- Support mentoring of junior staff and apprentices when needed
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent as a mechanical fitter or maintenance engineer
- Experience working on heavy/industrial equipment
- Competence with hand tools, power tools, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and manuals
- Basic electrical awareness (advantageous)
- Experience in industrial, marine, or offshore environments (preferred)
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
