Salary: £50,000 - £55,000

Location: Primarily office-based with occasional travel to site offices or treatment works

Are you a skilled engineer with a passion for project management and a strong understanding of Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, and Automation (MEICA) systems? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a MEICA Project Engineer.

Position Summary: As a MEICA Project Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of multi-disciplined engineering design and construction projects within strict financial budgets. Reporting to the Capital Delivery Manager, and from the initial project brief to commissioning and handover to operational staff, you will lead and manage non-infrastructure schemes related to water abstraction, treatment, supply, and distribution. Your responsibilities will include preparing and controlling project budgets, overseeing contractor negotiations, conducting technical reviews, and ensuring compliance with relevant quality, health, safety, and environmental standards.

Main Duties:

  • Project management of non-infrastructure schemes related to water supply and treatment
  • Prepare and closely control project budgets
  • Manage the preparation of Specifications and Contract Documents, negotiate with Contractors, and appraise and report on Tenders
  • Technical review of third-party MEICA designs
  • Supervisory duties during construction, installation, and commissioning of various projects
  • Conduct feasibility studies covering technical and financial matters to propose alternative schemes
  • Review company Mechanical, Electrical, and ICA standards
  • Participate in Periodic Reviews and other strategic projects
  • Provide technical and operational support across all business functions
  • Liaise with internal business functions and external stakeholders to assist with the delivery of the capital program
  • Monitor compliance with relevant quality, health, safety, welfare, and environmental legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Provide support during incidents and emergencies that may impact customer service

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical, Systems, or Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Good working knowledge of Water Treatment processes
  • Knowledge of MEICA design principles
  • Full driving license
