The Bank:
Employing over 8,000 people throughout the Group, established nearly 150 years ago, with operations in 5 European countries focusing on retail, private and commercial banking. The UK business recently celebrated 100 years in London and is about to embark on a substantial growth programme.
The Real Estate Finance division specialise in providing lending facilities of £1m+ for the purchase, refinance or refurbishment of residential and commercial property assets throughout the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- The implementation of strategic objectives for the optimisation of fee and margin income / loan growth in line with annual budgets/targets discussed and agreed with the Head of Real Estate Finance
- Professionally evaluate real estate lending propositions ensuring that sound banking judgement is exercised in assessing a loan proposal with a view to managing credit risk and obtaining a satisfactory return in line with the Bank’s remuneration guidelines
- Develop and implement on an annual basis a marketing strategy in order to maintain existing relationships and realise new business opportunities, via direct contacts and intermediaries
- Prime responsibility for managing client relationships within own portfolio of real estate clients
- To provide cover for other RM’s within REF as and when the need arises
- Assume overall responsibility for all aspects of the banking requirements of each client within your portfolio, ensuring a first-class professional service
- Liaising with other departments, in particular the Credit Unit, to see pipeline transactions through to completion
- Keeping up to date with the changing trends and developments within the real estate finance market, the economy as a whole and the regulatory environment
- Assisting junior team members in their day-to-day roles, providing advice and resolving problems whilst reporting any issues to the Head of REF
- Oversee the account opening process including reviewing and obtaining updated KYC documentation as required
- Authorise payment instructions in accordance with personal signature limits
- Uphold the values and behaviours of the Bank at all times
Qualifications:
- Ideally to be educated to degree level; a professional qualification such as an ARICS and or some experience of property law would be advantageous; ACIB qualification would be beneficial
Experience / Skills Required:
- Minimum 5 years previous experience in a similar real estate finance role within a UK based Bank or similar
- Wide ranging knowledge of the UK real estate market, including residential and commercial investment and development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- In possession of excellent negotiation skills, having a high level of personal impact and the ability to influence others
- Possessing an excellent working knowledge of the full range of Banking products including deposits, treasury instruments, foreign exchange, and other credit products
- Being able to think analytically when assessing commercial viability of a lending proposition
- Teamworking successfully with others, valuing and utilising the skills and expertise of colleagues from across the Bank and external sources
