Part-Qualified Management Accountant (Transport/Public Realm) - £400-440 a day
A East-Midlands local authority, is looking for a part-qualified management accountant to support its work as the Local Transport Authority for Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham, and Nottinghamshire.
This role will provide financial support to programmes delivering the integrated transport strategy, covering buses, highways, active travel, decarbonisation, and smart ticketing.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist with the preparation, monitoring, and reporting of budgets for transport and public realm services. Produce monthly management accounts with accurate variance analysis and commentary.
- Prepare and update financial forecasts in line with transport strategy and project timelines.
- Support the year-end closing process, including reconciliations, accruals, and audit queries.
- Provide financial analysis to assess project viability, funding requirements, and value for money.
- Work closely with budget managers and project teams to ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.
- Contribute to funding claims, grant monitoring, and reporting for government-funded transport initiatives.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely reporting to senior management and stakeholders.
- Assist in developing and improving financial systems, processes, and reporting tools.
