Day to Day of the Role:

• Manage one direct report – Finance Assistant, reviewing their work and assisting with their professional development.
• Oversee customer deductions and debit notes, liaising with the wholesale team to ensure approvals and credit notes are processed where applicable.
• Assist the Finance Assistant with raising credit notes, invoices, and responding to email queries from customers and internal team members.
• Conduct various other ad-hoc duties within the wholesale finance team.
• Prepare weekly and monthly wholesale information for the treasury team.
• Prepare month-end journals for key areas of the business and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Review selected monthly head office cost centre reports, identifying and explaining key variances.
• Maintain dialogue with business area owners to achieve a complete and accurate view of financials.
• Utilise strong system skills to improve efficiency, processes, and conduct in-depth reconciliations of customer accounts.
• Assist with the year-end statutory audit and treasury audits.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• In professional training with at least 24 months of accounting experience in a similar management accounts role (preferably retail).
• Willingness to challenge processes and costs incurred with senior heads of departments.
• Ability to multitask, maintain focus under pressure, and ensure accuracy and attention to detail at all times.
• Capability to work independently to investigate variances and new accounting processes.
• Enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• A strong level of MS Excel and Outlook skills.
• Experience with Styleman and Sun Ledger systems (desired, but not essential).
