Our client is a nationwide supplier of facilities maintenance services with over 34 years' experience delivering mechanical & electrical building services maintenance to the corporate, Healthcare, Education, Retail, Transport, and Manufacturing sectors across the UK.

They manage facilities for some of the UK's most innovative companies using technology to reduce their client's costs, drive sustainability and deliver an open-book, proactive 'smart maintenance' service.

Job Description

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for a finalist or newly qualified Accountant to join our busy head office department. You will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely and insightful management accounts and financial data for the business.

This role will therefore offer plenty of scope for career progression and personal development. We have a strong team culture and so the role will be fully based at our office in St Ives. Occasional travel to our other subsidiary companies in Gloucester, Slough, London, and other UK locations may also be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Post daily cash postings/bank reconciliation and issue weekly cash reports.
  • Maintain and update rolling 13-week cashflow forecast.
  • Produce monthly management accounts, including routine journal postings (accruals, prepayments, depreciation etc.).
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare monthly board pack schedules.
  • Reconcile Group intercompany accounts.
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting.
  • Assist with preparation of quarterly VAT returns.
  • Assist with year-end financial statements and audit queries.
  • Assist Finance teams within subsidiary companies as and when required.
  • Ad hoc reports and analysis.

Necessary Skills

Essential:

  • AAT qualified or part qualified / newly qualified ACCA / CIMA.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Must have previous experience of working in a finance team.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Exchequer or Sage accounting system.
