Decco is currently recruiting a Maintenance Operative on behalf of one of our valued clients. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team at iQ Student Accommodation during their busy summer turnaround period.

The summer turnaround is a crucial time at iQ Student Accommodation, as we prepare our buildings for the upcoming academic year. As students move out, our teams work quickly and efficiently to clean, maintain, and refresh rooms and shared spaces to meet high standards. This fast-paced environment requires strong teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering an excellent experience for both summer guests and returning students.

• Carry out day-to-day repairs and maintenance across the site
• Support the onsite Maintenance Technician with tasks such as moving heavy furniture and equipment
• Assist with move-in day operations
• Perform basic plumbing, painting/decorating, lighting replacements, and statutory testing
• Conduct silicone sealing, mastic work, and surface repairs
• Respond to health and safety matters appropriately and promptly
• Report incidents or accidents to the Operations Manager
• Follow company policies and procedures for property maintenance
• Attend a health and safety induction prior to starting; basic PPE will be provided

• Proven experience in maintenance or general building work (e.g., plumbing, carpentry)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently with a positive attitude
• Flexible and adaptable approach to work
• Professional, courteous, and helpful manner
• Smart appearance and adherence to company dress code

• Awareness of Health & Safety requirements
• A recognised trade qualification (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, Building Crafts Operative Certificate) is desirable but not essential
