Chartered Accountants Hall is an historic building, located in Moorgate which has been the headquarters of the Institute of Chartered Accountants since it was first built in 1893.
The building is not only the headquarters for its staff but has now evolved into a central meeting space for its many members, and is also hired out by large commercial companies to host major events such as award ceremonies, functions, and weddings.
Overall purpose of this role of Maintenance Engineer
To carry out regular planned preventative maintenance work and reactive first line help desk calls on AHUs, FCUs, pumps, plumbing, chillers, boilers and kitchen equipment to the high standards expected by the ICAEW.
Maintenance Engineer Responsibilities include:
- Maintenance of all mechanical installations and equipment, carry out small works, diagnosis and fault finding on electrical circuits and equipment, read mechanical drawings and fault finding.
- Repair and maintain mechanical and all associated equipment.
- Managing the building environment using the Trend BMS system daily
- Maintain all lighting and power systems - internal and external.
- Undertake PPM and Reactive maintenance, reporting where necessary to the Assistant Building Manager (by using brief descriptions of the problems found during the maintenance routines).
- Undertake repairs to ventilation and heating systems including boilers, pumps, air conditioning etc.
- Undertake repairs to appliances, tools and catering equipment
- Ensure that all equipment requiring statutory checks is undertaken, with records kept for fire systems, emergency lighting etc.
- Carry out the Portable Appliance Testing to all appropriate equipment and maintain records.
- Communicate faults and problems so that spare parts can be quickly obtained and records maintained
- Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the Institutes policies, statutory requirements and Health and Safety Regulations
- Ensuring adherence and compliance with Health & Safety Regulations and the Institute Health and Safety Policy
- Assist with the preparation and policing of the ICAEW's Permit to Work system.
- Assist with other projects within Property Services as requested and support other trades and contractors when necessary.

Maintenance Engineer Candidate Profile
Essential
- Demonstrable previous experience in a similar role providing mechanical maintenance across a breadth of maintenance disciplines
- A methodical approach to solutions and be able to maintain accurate records
- Proven initiative skills and evidence of responding quickly to situations as they arise
- A thorough understanding of Health and Safety Regulations and associated statutory compliance
- Prior experience of working with stakeholders at all levels
- Qualifications
- City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
Preferable
- Have a flexible approach to the overall work of the Department
- Be able to work with the minimum of supervision.
- Enjoy working in a team environment
- Be prepared to support on-site functions during and out of normal working hours.
