Maintenance Engineer - Pure Resourcing Solutions : Job Details

We are supporting a specialist packaging business based in Newmarket in their search for a Maintenance Engineer. This is a day shift role, Monday to Friday, offering a stable working pattern and the opportunity to work with modern packaging machinery in a busy production environment.As Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving packaging machinery across the site. You’ll carry out both planned and reactive maintenance, support process improvements, and liaise with contractors to ensure the site runs efficiently and safely.Core responsibilities include:

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and scheduling contractor visits
• Responding to equipment breakdowns across the site, diagnosing and repairing faults
• Supporting packaging machinery including conveyors, sealers, and Multivac machines
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records and departmental KPI data
• Assisting with permit-to-work processes and ensuring compliance with EHS policies
• Obtaining quotes for specialist components, fixtures, and fittings
• Reviewing and updating work instructions to ensure they remain fit for purpose
• Covering for the Chief Engineer during holidays when required
• Providing support during call-outs, with overtime or TOIL provided

About you:

• Recognised electrical/electronic engineering experience
• Multi-skilled background in maintenance engineering
• Strong knowledge of EHS legislation – IOSH qualification desirable
• Previous experience with packaging machinery (e.g. Multivac, sealers, conveyors)
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques
• Highly organised, methodical, and proactive approach to work
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work under pressure
• Capable of problem-solving and delivering practical solutions
