Job Title: Machine SetterLocation: Preston, UKType: Full-Time, PermanentShift Pattern: Rotating shifts (5:45 am - 2:00 pm and 2:00 pm - 10:10 pm), Monday to Friday

Overview:An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Machine Setter to join a well-established and fast-growing manufacturing company based in Preston. The role will focus primarily on setting up and maintaining a variety of packing and manufacturing machinery to ensure maximum production efficiency and minimal downtime. The successful candidate will also play a key role in routine maintenance and equipment clean-downs, working to GMP standards and supporting wider engineering functions on site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and adjust packing line machinery including fillers, hoppers, labellers, and shrink wrap machines.
  • Support the setup of manufacturing machines such as tablet presses and capsule machines when required.
  • Lead clean-down and disinfection processes for packing/manufacturing equipment in accordance with GMP protocols.
  • Perform routine planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and contribute to non-urgent maintenance activities.
  • Accurately complete and update required documentation and SOPs.
  • Liaise with the Engineering Manager to minimise machine downtime and ensure spare parts availability.
  • Train and coach colleagues in machine setting procedures as needed.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and uphold health and safety practices across the site.

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience setting up and maintaining packing or tabletting machinery in an FMCG environment.
  • Excellent mechanical problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive, flexible, and team-oriented approach.
  • Comfortable with manual handling tasks and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Engineering qualification or apprenticeship training (desirable but not essential).
