Jackson Hogg are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity with one of our long standing clients in the Durham area. We are currently seeking a talented Machine Learning Engineer to join their algorithms team. This role offers the chance to collaborate closely with other Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, and domain experts, contributing to innovative projects spanning research and product development.

As a pivotal member of our growing team, the chosen candidate will have the autonomy to shape and refine their role according to their unique skills and interests. They will receive ample support for ongoing learning and skill development.

Responsibilities & Duties:

The Machine Learning Engineer will spearhead the investigation, implementation, and advancement of cutting-edge algorithms leveraging machine learning methodologies. Key duties include analysing data from diverse sources, developing pipelines and algorithms to process real and synthetic data, and crafting bespoke ML solutions to address evolving challenges. They will harness various ML techniques, including deep neural networks, while collaborating closely with subject matter experts to grasp the scientific principles underlying the data. Additionally, they will demonstrate a commitment to code quality, taking ownership of designated areas within the codebase and fostering collaboration across interdisciplinary teams of developers and scientists.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required:

  • Solid grasp of modern machine learning techniques
  • Good foundation in coding practices, preferably in Python
  • Proficiency with Python programming
  • Familiarity with Tensorflow/PyTorch
  • Critical thinking skills and understanding of scientific principles
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment, engaging in evidence-based discussions
  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific or software discipline

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of SQL
  • Experience with Cloud Deployment (e.g., AWS)
  • Familiarity with Python API packages such as FastAPI
  • Experience in collaborative software development
  • Proficiency with version control systems, especially GIT
  • Advanced proficiency with Tensorflow
  • Aptitude for delivering engaging presentations within team settings and to broader audiences
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with external collaborators
