Are you an experienced Haematology/Transfusion Biomedical Scientist seeking your next locum role in Central London?We have an exciting Band 6 opportunity available in a busy NHS laboratory, offering flexible working, competitive pay, and access to advanced diagnostic systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and specialist haematology and transfusion tests using Sysmex XN and Bio-Rad analysers 

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot automated and manual laboratory equipment.

• Support the blood bank in the safe issue and management of blood components.

• Ensure compliance with UKAS, ISO 15189, and internal quality standards (IQC/EQA).

• Validate, authorise, and report accurate laboratory results within required timeframes.

• Participate in audits, SOP reviews, and continuous service improvement projects.

• Work collaboratively with clinical and laboratory teams to deliver high-quality patient care.

Requirements:

• HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.

• Relevant NHS experience in a Haematology and/or Transfusion laboratory.

• Proficiency with Sysmex XN and Bio-Rad analysers.

• Strong understanding of laboratory quality systems, SOPs, EQA/IQC.

• Full-time availability; must be able to work a 24/7 rota including weekends.

• Excellent communication, attention to detail, and teamwork skills.

• Professional, proactive approach to laboratory diagnostics.

Working Hours & Contract DurationThis is a full-time position, working 37.5 hours per week across a Monday to Sunday rota. The contract is ongoing with the possibility of extension based on performance and service requirements.
