About the Role

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our Recycling & Waste team. As a Loader, you’ll play an important role in helping to keep Monmouthshire clean and sustainable by supporting the kerbside collection of household waste and recyclables.

This is a hands-on, active outdoor job where you’ll work as part of a team collecting various types of waste, including recycling, garden and food waste, and general refuse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect waste and recycling from households and businesses as per the collection schedule.

  • Ensure bins and containers are returned neatly to the correct place after collection.

  • Work professionally and respectfully with the public at all times.

  • Report contamination or issues with collections to supervisors.

  • Follow all health and safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Complete any required paperwork accurately and promptly.

  • Work from different depots if needed (travel support or mileage will be offered).

  • Support additional tasks such as litter picking, town centre cleaning, and responding to emergencies (e.g. during floods or snow).

What We’re Looking For
  • Experience working in an operational or manual role is desirable.

  • A good team player with a positive attitude and strong communication skills.

  • Basic understanding of health and safety requirements.

  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Able to work flexibly, including bank holidays and occasional weekends or evenings.

  • Driving licence is desirable but not essential.

  • Welsh language skills are desirable.
