Join our team in Barnsley as an LGV Waste Collection Driver, leading a crew to ensure safe and efficient household waste collection. This role is crucial in maintaining community cleanliness and adhering to health and safety standards.

• Operate LGV vehicles and equipment to collect household waste efficiently.
• Supervise a crew of 2 employees, ensuring daily tasks are completed safely and effectively.
• Maintain high standards of vehicle cleanliness, security, and proper use.
• Accurately record activities using paper or electronic devices.
• Respond to public enquiries politely and escalate issues appropriately.
• Adhere to schedules and adapt to changing priorities within the community.
• Promote and ensure safe working practices, including training team members.
• Comply with all health and safety regulations and council policies.
• Perform additional duties as required to support the waste management team.

• Valid UK Category C Driving Licence.
• Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
• Experience in supervising teams, preferably in waste management operations.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures relevant to waste collection.
• Manual Handling, Needle Stick, and IOSH Working Safely training, or willingness to undertake.
• Willingness to complete the Council’s Leadership Programme.
